February offers Potential

There are a lot of positive things to look forward to in February, that enterprising restaurant owners and hoteliers could prepare for and use to their advantage.

In the 7 days up to St Valentine’s Day, there are individual days that can be celebrated:

  1. Friday 7th is Rose Day
  2. Saturday 8th is Propose Day
  3. Sunday 9th is Chocolate Day
  4. Monday 10th is Teddy Day
  5. Tuesday 11th is Promise Day
  6. Wednesday 12th is Hug Day
  7. Thursday 13th is Kiss Day
  8. Friday 14th is St Valentine’s Day

A Marketing Plan

I’m sure that some of the restaurants and hotels of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, who are looking for theme nights, could make a lot from these dates.

Imagine the local news coverage that could be had from “Propose Day” and “Kiss Day”.

The opportunities are many and varied and will lead to increased attention of your establishment and, consequently, an influx of customers both regular and new.

So, get ready

Front of House

It’s all very well developing and implementing a marketing strategy, but it must be backed up in-house too.

There needs to be an overall theme of love and romance throughout the restaurant, with the opportunity to add individual items for each of these run-up days, culminating in the Cupid and Heart motifs for St Valentine’s Day on the Friday.

Behind the Scenes

To support a week-long event the kitchens have to be in tip-top condition, so, to help you, here’s a list of things to check, in no particular order:-

  • Is your air input system working properly?
When was the last time you checked your air replacement system?
As you know, when air is extracted from a commercial kitchen, fresh air needs to be drawn in from outside to maintain an air balance and with the doors and windows closed this can be a challenge.
If you’re unsure whether the air balance is right call 01733 230 378 and talk to us at CK Direct. We are a trusted industry supplier, with over 23 years’ experience and have a complete range of units for extraction and air input.
  • Ventilation and Extraction systems, including recirculation systems. Are they working well?
  • Stainless steel fabrications – do you need that extra table or shelf?
  • Gas interlocks – CK Direct stock the merlin Range.
  • Environmental Products – odour control, sanitisation products for cleaning tables and work surfaces.
  • Lighting – during the darker months good lighting is essential in a kitchen.

CK Direct was founded in Peterborough in 2002 to supply kitchen ventilation and extraction systems to the catering industry nationwide.

We are proud of the fact that our client base includes famous restaurants, as well as small family hotels, independent restaurants, schools, colleges, care homes and major high street food chains.

So, remember us if you need a little support and just call us on 01733 230378.
