The kids are going back to school after the summer holidays, and mums and dads are returning to their usual routines.

BUT, now is the time that the more senior members of society, whose children have left home, can enjoy their summer holidays in more serene surroundings. As was pointed out in a previous blog, approximately 53% of families are staying in this country this year. They are aiming to avoid inflated air travel prices, potential airport disruption and delays, and the overall uncertainty surrounding overseas travel in the current geopolitical environment.
Consequently, September this year can be seen even more as a holiday month between summer and the beginning of autumn. The days are still warm and long enough, and the weather is usually pleasant. So it’s a real opportunity for the catering sector to benefit from a more sedate clientele.

And there is a little more good news for the catering industry

During the last six years, catering margins have been squeezed time and time again.
However, on 23rd July the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, announced that, from April 2027, all pubs, clubs and live music venues will have a 20% cut in their business rates. This provides some relief and should save each business in excess of £1,000 per annum.

Hopefully there will be more to come for Hotels and Restaurants
Whilst the 23rd of July announcement is welcomed, it doesn’t address the high costs that 42,000+ hotels and restaurants are still struggling with, putting at risk the 2.5 million people they employ.

If margins can be improved a little more, what can you do?

  1. Improve kitchen efficiency with a new extraction canopy
If you can exhaust externally, CK Direct can supply, install and maintain a system that will be tailored to your premises.
If you can’t exhaust externally, CK Direct has a complete range of recirculating units that can satisfy any requirement.
  2. Reduced noise and odour
You can make sure that kitchen odour and noise is not going to be an issue with your neighbours. This should mean that you will keep them onside, and they will come to your business as well as recommending you to their friends.
To achieve this, you need the CK Direct AirTeck G64, which reduces the noise of the extraction system and eradicates odours.
AND as if that isn’t enough, it also reduces grease build-up in the ducting, thereby reducing the risk of fire.
  3. Improve staff efficiency
Maintaining a comfortable even temperature in the kitchen is vital to keeping staff comfortable and, therefore, more efficient, even in the hottest of days.
  4. Reduce humidity
Humidity makes a kitchen environment really uncomfortable.
To keep humidity from rising, install a pot-wash extractor above the sink.
Result – a more efficient pot wash area, a more comfortable environment throughout the whole kitchen, and happier and efficient staff.
  5. Look good and feel good
Nothing says clean and efficient better than a sparkling, shiny kitchen.
CK Direct make stainless steel fabrications to order: – wall cladding, gantries, cupboards, tables, work surfaces and benches and much more.
