A good summer in prospect?

After some of the wettest months on record we can only hope that May is going to be better.
The days are longer and this month we have the two bank holidays to look forward to. The first this coming weekend and then at the end of the month on the 27th.

As you know employees often incorporate bank holiday weekends into their annual holiday entitlement so that they can save some of their holiday entitlement for later in the year.

Add to this the effect of the cost-of-living crisis and I believe that there will be more families switching from an annual holiday abroad to a staycation here in the UK.

These two factors should boost the numbers of visitors to UK catering establishments, so there are reasonable possibilities for a profitable year.

So what’s the best thing to do?

  • Remove the negatives
    • Odour
If your extraction system isn’t fitted with an odour eliminating system, visitors will be put off by the aroma near your restaurant and you also run the risk of alienating your close neighbours too.
A system like the Airteck G64, is a highly efficiency ozone generator unit. It eliminates smells by oxidising pathogens in the exhaust pipes. Servicing is made much easier because it is installed between the extraction point and the exhaust fan, external to the ductwork. Take a look, it’s worth it.
  • Keep kitchen staff more comfortable
    • Cool the kitchen
By making sure that the temperature in your kitchen is maintained at comfortable levels, your staff will be happier and work more efficiently.
The CK Direct Range includes extract only hoods, extract & air input hoods, island canopy sections, service distribution units, air input systems and a bespoke service that tailors to your every need.
  • Keep the noise down
If your kitchen generates excessive noise, it will be heard by your neighbours, your customers and potential customers, increasing the chances of complaints and an inspection, whilst reducing your chances of additional business.
So why not investigate noise control products from CK Direct
  • Highlight the positives
    • Service with a smile
If your serving staff are personable and polite and the food is served in good time, then the customers will be happy and more likely to return.
    • Incentives
Present your customers with a small token of your appreciation for their custom. This will make them feel good and you will have them coming back time after time.
      Some ideas:

      • A free post meal drink – coffee/tea or squash for the kiddies
      • A lollipop for the kiddies
      • A free aperitif token for their next visit
      • Tokens for their friends to enjoy a meal at reduced rate.

In summary

Summer is here, the days are longer, and more people may be staying in this country rather than going abroad for their holidays. So, 2024 could be a good year for the catering sector to get profitability back after the dark days of covid and the energy crisis.
